Venita Lynn Tate-Harris, 63, of Benton, Arkansas, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, January 18, 2026, resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Born on
June 30, 1962, to the late Ira Davis and Annette Tate-Jones, Venita’s journey through life was marked by faith, service, and unwavering dedication to her family, church, and community.

Venita’s spiritual foundation was nurtured at First Baptist Church, Highland Park, where she was a proud member. Her faith guided her actions and inspired those around her. Venita’s presence was always a source of encouragement and warmth.

Venita’s commitment to excellence shone through her career with the city of Little Rock, where she served for more than three decades. Hired on October 11, 1993 ,she became a pillar of her department, demonstrating leadership, compassion, and a relentless work ethic. Throughout her tenure, Venita earned numerous accolades, each a testament to her dedication and professionalism:
- Mahlon Martin Employee of the Year Award (2013): This prestigious honor recognized Venita’s outstanding contributions and her role as a model employee.
- Leadership, Exploration and Development Certificate (2018): Venita’s pursuit of growth and her ability to lead and inspire others were acknowledged with this certificate.
- Service and Dedication Recognition (2024): Upon her retirement, the city celebrated Venita’s remarkable 30+ years of service to both citizens and fellow employees.
- Venita became a member of the order of Eastern star in January 2018:affiliated with Bathsheba chapter #1 of Little Rock, under the umbrella of Lillie of the Valley OES Grand chapter of AR., under the auspices of the M.W. Hiram of Tyre Grand Lodge AF & AM of AR. Where she remained a member until she departed this life.

Venita’s story is one of resilience, integrity, and compassion. Her career achievements were matched only by her love for her husband, her family and friends. She touched countless lives through her kindness, mentorship, and unwavering support. Venita’s legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew her, as well as in the community she helped shape.

Venita leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Dennis (Doc), Harris of Benton AR; three sons, Desmond (Latrice) McElroy of Little Rock, AR; James Young of Little Rock, AR; Quinton Young of Little Rock, AR; two brothers, Louis “Sonny“ (Felicia) Gilkey of Little Rock, AR; Ivan “Ike” Tate of Little Rock, AR; one Step Brother, Charles (Anita) Jones of Beloit, WI; Bonus/Step Sons, Deshaun Harris (deceased) of Little Rock AR; Dr. Dennis (Latoya) Harris Jr. of GA; DeMarko Harris of Little Rock, AR; Denzel (Lauren) Harris of Little Rock AR; grandchildren, Arieyun Eneje, Nailah McElroy, Javion Cooley, Jaylen Scales, Asia Harris, Katelyn Harris, Carter Harris, Avery Harris, A'Layah Harris, Luna Harris, Lennon Harris, Javeion Craig (Deceased), great grandchildren, Christian Eneje, Dominik Smith, Amyre Smith , Zyon Mitchell, and Zuriah Blakemore, Special Friends, Nate, and Cheryl Yancy, and a host of other Brothers, Sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
